You move on to income based ESA which because of your pension means you'll get nothing. However you will be eligible for more council tax and housing benefit as well if you rent because your sole income will be the pension, not pension + CB ESA. When your CB ESA ends you'll need to notify a change of circumstances to the council - don't expect or rely on the DWP to do it because they frequently don't.0

What a load of rubbish!!l get £265 net from my private pension each month
The OP clearly states that the only income coming in to the household is CB ESA + £265 a month from a private pension.
Are you seriously suggesting that the OP should be able to live on £61 a week after the ESA stops?
They will be able to claim ESA Income Based to top up their income.
It should be automatic but you never know what the DWP will do - they are in a world of their own!
We don't know anything about the OP's circumstances, age, illness etc. Maybe they have the right to claim DLA?0 -

If I was you I would seek help at the CAB or a local DIAL shop.
Ask for a benefit health check to see what else you could claim for and how much.
As you will only get £61 a week income when CB ESA stops, you will be entitled to IB ESA as a top up.0 -
Why not? That is basically what JSA is.fogartyblue. wrote: »What a load of rubbish!!

Yes, to top it up to the rate of ESA. At the moment they get the single rate PLUS their pension so the OP will be £61 a week worse off than now.
However, that means that the OP will qualify for some HB/CTB which they currently don't.0 -

Of course the OP will be worse off when CB ESA stops.
You were wrong in your advice that the OP will be expected to live on the private pension alone with a possibility of an increase in CTB. Rent was never mentioned by the OP.
How old is the OP - is Pension Credit an option?
There will be a top up of IB ESA at least to take the OP up to the minimum the government allows.
We don't know enough to give a factual answer. There may be a disability involved - what about DLA/AA?
Either will bump up the means testng amount.
As I have said, the OP is best going to the CAB and giving full details about health, disabilities, age etc and seeing what she can claim for.0 -
she would be able to get the information from the benefit helpline, i dont see why the need for cab?
cab are under so much strain it can now take weeks to get an appointment, and if the info is available via the benefits helpline she is much better off doing that which is far quicker so the worry shorter.0 -
