09999100230 phone calls.

aaaaggggghhhhh. another phone call off this number. thats 2am, 9am, 11.30am. sounds like an indian call centre if the background noise is genuine,
so this time i answered the phone, the caller tells me i have a problem with my computer.
me......really, i dont own a computer....
.......silence......
so i ask..how can i have a problem with a computer i dont have?
he put the phone down.
i know some are already aware of this scam, but just a warning to those who have not heard of it, beware of this and similar numbers.

i am ex directory, have had these calls in the past and have googled the number before so knew what they were up to.
i phoned my phone provider and explained about the call, he suggested i register with TPS(i already am), but i explained TPS as i understand cannot prevent overseas calls.he agreed.
he also knew all about the scam calls but said there was nothing they can do apart from change my phone number. not a lot of help to unsuspecting innocent folk who might be taken in by the lowlifes that make these calls

Its a favourite place for scammers now and some of these call centre sell your details on to scammers which is probably why they got your number from a legit source

Why are so many people from India working for scammers? I know the country is a bit third world, but they aren't so far behind the times they don't know they're ripping people off.
