Some landlords, aren't who they say they are and could be receiving the money dishonestly. Also, some properties may have a residential mortgage instead of a buy to let.
I agree. They are probably also checking out whether the LL is running a HMO and if he has the relevant registration etc required for this.
It could be that your LL doesn't accept HB occupants because he is afraid of being checked and everything is not as it should be.0 -

I don't know about this particular council but they may not do even this. They should help but I'm afraid that single young men are extremely low priority.
OP, if your LL 'kicks you out' then do go and register as homeless but don't be surprised if you get very liitle help.
Your best bet is to find a room in a shared house and restart your HB application.
Have you friends/family you could stay with while you search?0 -
He officially does not accept DSS. Saying that he has tenants that rented a room while working and now claim DSS. They are all in Lewisham where he has all other properties and L council never asked him to fill in anything. It seems to be Bromley council invention.0

I think all councils ask these questions - Bexley certainly ask exactly the same questions.
My guessing is what someone already says - I bet he has got too many tenants and needs a HMO.0 -

I live with my landlord so by law he does not need eviction notice. All I have right to is what is agreed in contract so 2 weeks deposit is my notice.
Finding accommodation if you are unemployed and have no benefits going at the time is in essence impossible.
If anyone would be responsible for me becoming homeless is council as I have provided all the info I can and can not be held responsible for what other people do.
Regarding HB not having all info they need well I did provide all and I do not understand some info needed. They know there is mortgage on the house but why do they need to know how much is paid monthly and who is paying it? I am not so what does it matter?
Have you checked this with the shelter link that I gave you?
There are different 'rules' depending upon whether you share living space with your landlord or not.0 -
Sites like :
https://www.spareroom.co.uk and https://www.easyroommate.com
should come up with somewhere suitable.0 -
I had a friend who was on the housing list in Hackney for eight years. When she phoned up to ask if there was any chance of a place in the near future she was laughed at. This was years ago and the situation has got a lot worse since.0

What is the reason behind it I do not know but in any case it does not help me.pmlindyloo wrote: »

Ok will be blunt here. What am I to say? Hi looking for a room, got no job but working on it, got no HB at the moment so would have to apply for that so maybe, not got much cash left. If you ask me does not sound to promising does it?
Will start calling few people and we will see. As am alone in UK no family.0 -

and where exactly in law does it say they can ask him 101 questions to try and deny him housing and as for the landlord or any other third party I would expect whether they answer is entirely up to them which is even more ridiculous if the council use this as an excuse to deny what he's entitled to.0
