you really need to bombard them with abuse when they phone, throw a couple of swear words in the mix for good measure, that should keep these scumbags at bay and give you a bit of time to work out your next move.

I've been getting calls from Capquest on my mobile phone for years. They ask to speak to somebody called Christopher ???????? - I just tell them it's my phone number and I don't know this person. (I never give my name)

I've asked them to take my number off their records but they never do.

Are they asking for you or someone else ?
Some people have been known to put false phone numbers on applications...
Could also be someone with a similar or the same name and they are calling everyone with that name.
If you don't owe anything to anyone, ignore everything until you get something in writing from them.

As others have said - just ignore. Whatever you do, do not call them as they will just bully and threaten you into paying.

National Debtline website had a good template letter you could use to ask them to stop phoning you.

Ask them to hold the line whilst you check something/get someone for them to speak to them. Make a cup of tea, have your lunch, go for a walk - leave them hanging on for as long as possible.

When you come back just hang up the phone - better to waste their time than yours.

They ring me every year around Jan/Feb time. I think the guy they're after gave them a made up mobile number when he took the loan out - maybe that happened with your number?
