My ebay auction - contacted after end & offered to buy unsold item

Hi All,
I'm a bit of an ebay virgin so am hoping someone may be able to shed some light on this scenario please:
An item I listed was unsold. There was someone watching it. I have been contacted about 10 mins after the listing ended and the person has said they were hoping to buy it but missed the end of the auction so would it be possible to buy the item now? They have offered to pay the starting price and postage in full.
So my questions are:
Is this allowable on ebay or should I just relist the item?
Is it possible to invoice someone for a certain amount via paypal without it linking to the original item?
I am thinking they are genuine but wondered if it could be some kind of scam or tactic to get items cheap without bidding?
Thanks

Sounds fine to me - if your item didn't sell then you should be pleased for the offer!
There is a 'request money' tab in paypal which you can use to create an invoice, and this will save you the ebay fees as well.0 -
Great, thank you. I thought it was good, just wasn't sure if dodgy!
Thanks.0 -
Having just seen something on another board by coincidence, this could be seen as 'fee avoidance' by ebay, which will get your account into trouble, I didn't think of that before. In which case you are better off relisting the item and making your buyer bid on it.
That being said I doubt they would even notice if you did it this once.
Sorry for giving conflicting advice!0
