Chevrolet Lacetti

Anyone own one? I'm looking for an estate car to ferry the kids around in with plenty of space for all the junk that goes with it, it's not the most attractive car in the world but they seem to be cheap.

What other options are worth considering, cee'd could be an option or focus?

I'd go for the Kia over the Chevrolet. The 7 year 100,000 mile warranty is hard to ignore.

Daewoo / chevy would be cheaper. If you can get a ceed in warranty for a good price then go for it.

Nubira another alternative, or a rio, or a tacuma, or a matrix
  • found out why the Lacetti is so cheap it was horrid.

What was so horrid about it, whenever i delivered the things i found them a decent if fairly basic car which was pleasant enough to drive, without too much carp to go wrong which to me is one of its strong points.

They look very dull. But if you don't mind that then its not a problem. I think they were often the butt of jokes in Top Gear (a motor show on bbc2).

Thats a long time ago, well recalled, there is a current program by the same title, its centred around 3 joke butts reading predictable corny lines from an autocue...

anything they disliked has to be worth considering

I've sold a couple this past year, most recently an '05 Estate in black, with alloys, aircon, electrics, etc and 40K miles. We sold it for £1400 and still made a comfortable profit on it.

Cant see you getting much better value for money - they're as cheap as chips.

One thing i would say is watch out for an overly firm ride - to the point of being hard - they have gas filled struts which go very stiff when they've leaked. New ones are easily got for around £50 a corner though.

They had one as their reasonably priced car on their race track. Seemed to cope with the job admirably.

Looks like a lot of car for little money. They look fine to me should prove cheap motoring lot of spec on the cdx models.

Not sure on the shape of the hatch saloon or estate look ok.
