I had actually missed the Yes answer you gave for the 1st question.

Self-Assessment is the name of the tax system, so you complete either a paper Self Assessment tax return or file it online.

Presumably everyone on self assessment got one of these leaflets ?

Personally as a pensioner I am happy to self assess, rather than risk getting my notice of coding so mucked about that I cannot understand it.
