Technically this should be moved to the Techies forum!!
A 7600GS or 7600GT AGP would do you fine:

I would personally upgrade your CPU as an XP1800 is going to be a limiting factor!!
A XP2800 would be a good starting point.
I would personally save up for a better system if possible!!0 -
Pound for pound , your best bet would be ATI x1950 pro. There isnt that much difference between the price for a 256MB / 512MB but might be worth going for the 512MB. You will be looking in the region of 130-145 ish for this card. Sadly if you had PCI-express , you could pick it up for around 100. I agree with previous post about upping ur processor .. there are many bottlenecks in PC these days , but the CPU would seem to be the main one here. Mem is ok , and the motherboard should support up to a AMD 3000 (I think.. I have the deleuxe version of urs on one of mine). Bear in mind , you could pick up a new dell PC (dual core etc ..) for 230 ish so this might be worth a route to look at. it all depends how much cash u have spare i suppose.0

Thanks for the replies, not really interested in buying a whole new computer though
Maybe my CPU does need upgrading but atm im limited to a rubbish graphics card so that is top priority... I have a GeForce with only 32mb, how craps that? 0 -

Thanks for the help of looking for the cards, i would appreciate some help of trying to find any of the 3 cards at a cheaper price
I'll see what i can find. Ebay's ok aswell. 0 -
Have a look at RetekDirect - they have a refurb 9800Pro for ~£40 delivered.
eBay radeon 9800 search. G0 -
Thanks, but since my old one cocked up i've been thinking about trying to get a better one now as i might aswell. I'm sure there are better cards out there for my system.0

Yes, as you well know, there are several better ones (some already suggested above). But as the others have mentioned, your relatively low-end CPU is going to be a bottleneck.karlgr wrote:Thanks, but since my old one cocked up i've been thinking about trying to get a better one now as i might aswell. I agree with CAT-THE-FIFTH's suggestion for a AMD 2800+ at the very least. You may struggle to find them (socket-A AMD Athlons) in the shops, so eBay is your best bet - 2800 CPU search. G0 -
Something like this look anygood? im a bit reluctant because i dont know if its compatable with my pc

Any Athlon XP Socket-A (also known as Socket-462) CPU, whether Barton/Thoroughbred would be compatible with your motherboard/system. So the ones you linked to are fine
. G
P.S. Barton is slightly better than Thoroughbred. I would avoid a socket-A Sempron, as it's less powerful than an Athlon0
