New Boiler

Hi I will keep this short and sweet,,I got a new boiler fitted 6 months ago and it failed I contacted ferroli ( I wont go into how hard that was ) anyway they sent an engineer and it was repaired it broke again 3 weeks later and went through the process again the engineer wrote the boiler off and told ferroli to replace the boiler..The new boiler arrived today but its a different model and is a lower spec than the one I bought 26kw as compared to the 28kw I bought ..Ferroli have told me that my boiler is discontinued and that they cant replace it like for like I told them that I wanted my boiler replaced with a 28KW or better and that I wont except a lower spec boiler because it would not suit my property.. they said if I pay £250 i can have a 30 kw boiler because they dont have any 28kw due to my boiler being discontinued ..just wanted to know my rights here as my boiler was still under warranty can i refuse the lower spec and demand a free higher spec or can I demand my money back for the boiler that failed...

You might be better asking a question on the in my home section too.
They could have discontinued the 28kw one, due to doing improvements to the range and the 26kw one could be actually as efficent and powerful than the one you had originally. This does happen a lot of the time with Boiler manufacturers.
The way they code their boilers is weird, the numbers on some of them, do not correspond with the output of the boiler. They only do the 26 kw one, then jump to a 31 & 38, but they are only 24kw and 30 for the 38 model.
Post on In my home and see if an engineer on there knows more about what will be best or suitable.
Be aware though, you will be told that ferroli are rubbish by someone on there. Engineers like fitting what they are used to.0 -

Thanks I know what you mean but Ive checked that the boilers are different ie heat out put and flow rates on the boiler that they have sent are of a lower spec...0 -
Ferolli are only doing the warranty work and can only offer you what they have available, as far as they are concerned the 26 model is the nearest they have to your boiler.
If you want to try for more, you now need to contact the installer, retailer of the boiler as your contract is with them. Legally they should replace it with a boiler of the same spec or better. They may refuse to do this if they deem it to costly and decide instead to refund you. The problem you have is the fitting costs etc, will they also give you that back and with no boiler what are you going to do without heating or hot water.
Could get a bit messy this one, it may well come down to the reputation of the installer or accepting the Ferolli boiler.0 -
that would not be the case they have several models which are a closer spec to my boiler they just wont upgrade without charging a fee which is rediculous I paid over £600 six months ago for the boiler the replacement they sent is £450 to buy and even the higher spec models come in at £580 so why should I have to pay an extra £250 for a model which is £20 cheaper than the original model I bought.Ferolli are only doing the warranty work and can only offer you what they have available, as far as they are concerned the 26 model is the nearest they have to your boiler.
They say that its under a warranty with ferroli and that they should honour there gaurantee. If you want to try for more, you now need to contact the installer, retailer of the boiler as your contract is with them. Legally they should replace it with a boiler of the same spec or better.
I have been without heating for over three weeks due to ferroli customer service and after a very long process of waiting around for a boiler to be shipped and failed delivery dates they sent the wrong boiler ??? my installer is at his wits end too and said he will never fit a ferroli again.with no boiler what are you going to do without heating or hot water..0 -

What Ferroli do is not really your problem. You shouldn't be needing to chase up Ferroli yourself (although I accept it may be worthwhile you doing so, to speed things up).
But you paid the installer, so your contract is with them. If any legal action is required, you will need to take it against the installer.0
