Dla first claim advice?

Going through the mill today. Gp has got the DLA paperwork however my thinking they could fill these out using previous paed reports on his medical records was wrong.
The one from York (who has seen him once) has reported to his medical records but according to them they have no other information on paed's he has been involved with. Including the one in Germany who worked with him ALOT and was the reason we were posted back here on a compassionate posting as well as getting him on the accessment waiting list so this is not doable.
I asked the DLA if I could have his current paed write a statement and send this in place of the gp filling it out and reporting back to them and they said yes.
Any advice on what should be included? anyone ever done this route instead?

That sounds a great solution, Muttley!
I have a helpful GP who would b more than happy to scan info like this in. The truth is, he never sees my son, who is very healthy. The Paed deals with his Autism, so my GP would have been clueless if I hadn't filled him in, however from what I understand, for the last claim they only contacted my son's Paed and accepted the section my son's teacher filled out as well. She has unfortunately now retired, and the new one we met 2 weeks ago stated to us that he 'doesn't get involved' in either education problems or filling out forms-our previous Paed was fantastic on this score so we are very disappointed and worried now. Although his award has another 3 years to run, it seems these days that they can send out a renewal whenever they decide to, so I pretty much ignore the 5 year date we were given. Keeping the diary is a bit of a bore and a bit depressing, but at least it means I have the info if a dreaded form does land on the mat!
if they give you a definite end date to the claim then its unusual for them to come back before that date, indefinite awards they can re-assess at anytime after the first year, although of course anyone over 16 will be moved to pip soon0 -
Well it turns out that apprantly the DLA think the term "GP" means paed not GP!
We had a paed appointment in Thursday just gone and when we walked in she had the DLA paperwork on her desk.
however it's a paed who has never ever met him. She asked me a few brief questions and said she would fill it out as best she could even though she looked at me like i was nuts because the little man decided to play "angel" almost the entire appointment!
Will have to wait and see what happens now but i don't feel very good about it0 -
mummyjonno, could you you contact this paeds secretary, maybe give a weeks worth of 'life living with my child, this is what I do' and see if that would help her to complete the form accurately as to what life is really like for you? Couch it in terms of ' I know it must be difficult for you to understand what day-to-day life is like for us, but things were difficult enough for us to move counties for' ? Certainly can't do any harm!!
Good luck with this xTomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0 -

I would have done exactly that if i'd have known it was her who has the paperwork. DWP still maintain the GP was sent it doh!
I am pretty certain it's too late now, by all accounts she filled it out and sent it the same day of our appointment. The good news is with the supporting paperwork I sent in the first place not only were there months and months of paperwork from his paed,hv,social worker and salt i also sent in the paperwork the paed had to send to the Army stating we had to move back to England and exactly why. So hopefully they've taken that into account and realise how serious this really is.
I appreciate your support it's lovely to get tips from someone who has been there and done that. I will be sending "a day in the life of report" with the renewal or the appeal if needed xx0
