I have just come across an old bank account I opened in 1977 with a gift I had received of £500
I still have the £500 on deposit The Woolwich Branch I held it at is now a trendy bar
Can I get my money back? Who own the Woolwich now?
Any assistance will be much appreciated
I have moved address 4 times since I opened it

Woolwich is now owned by Barclays. It is probably best for you to use http://www.mylostaccount.org.uk/

Ask if you are entitled to any shares following their demutualisation too.
I suspect you've missed the cut of date though.0 -

Try this.......
All unclaimed Woolwich shares were sold and the cash ringfenced in October 2000, since when dividends have been added. It now totals around £19.6m. Anyone who may still have assets to claim will have been a Woolwich customer before the flotation was announced in January 1996 and would have needed to keep their accounts through to flotation in July 1997. Not all accounts made a customer eligible for shares - current accounts, for example, were excluded. Anyone with a claim should contact Assets Reunited, the company acting on Woolwich's behalf in this matter, on 0870 429 2432.I have a deep burning indifference0 -
