Credit rebuild cards

Hi - sorry if this is a silly question - I foolishly defaulted with Aqua and vanquish credit cards (which are designed for people who have ccj & defaults). Anyway this was over 6 years ago and now my credit file is completely clear and my aim is to start rebuilding my credit profile. Even thou I defaulted with these cards over 6 years ago (settled them) would they accept me now if I were to apply with them again so that I can start to rebuild my credit???

BTW - First time poster!!!

The best anser is 'maybe'. They can only see your general credit history up to 6 years back, but obviously would have the ability to see their own data back to the beginning of time. Assuming they have the functionality and have a policy of doing this.

I'd guess they probably don't look back at internal files that far.

I defaulted on Cap One as part of my IVA set up 2006 and finished 2011 - all my files are clear now - I applied again and they said no. Tesco and Metro said yes. So these companies must employ elephant memories..that said Vanquis is very entry level so may be more forgiving..or as zx81 says, they might just not look that far back..
Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.

You are right zx81, they certainly don't go back that far.

In my case when I was young and dumb and so irresponsible, I defaulted on a Barclaycard in 1991 and Barclays bank soon after closed my current account as well.

Ten years later in 2001, I defaulted on a Capital One Mastercard which was their classic card back then. Shocking I know and yet I still hadn't learned.

However, I got there in the end, but not until I was forty. I had the cheek to apply for both a Barclaycard and a Capital One and was accepted. Everything has been marvellous ever since.:rotfl:
You may question anything I say. Just be polite, otherwise you go straight on to my Ignore List, which funds a good old fashioned knees-up every Xmas. Cheers;)
