Praise and vent re time taken to release funds

I'm doing probate for someone with multiple accounts, mostly ISA's, with balances of between 5K - 10K

3 sorted it there and then over the counter and gave me a cheque
1 transferred funds same day into my account after seeing the will
3 sent a cheque to my house. (I'd posted the building society books and forms on a Monday and cheques were returned on the Wed, Thurs and Friday):j

And finally there is one bank from which I have had no response so I called into the branch today. The person said I need to allow 28 days but best wait another week before calling in again. Why? I've already had a 45 minute appointment with them to list and agree the various accounts (current, savings, bond) so what else is there to do that takes 28+ days.:(
