Returning to work after maternity leave

Hi all! My daughter is on maternity leave and is due to return to work in 2 weeks, her pay is minimum wage. She has requested flexible working and her employer has offered her 4 afternoons a week. Unfortunately this is not suitable due to child care arrangements. We can have baby all day Thurs and Fri and she has asked to work these hours but they are not compatible with the requirements of her employer. It would seem that her only option is to resign and look for work at the times we can offer childcare. She needs an income. By handing in her notice what will the effect be on any benefit claim she may be able to make? If anyone can offer advice or a solution we would be most grateful. Thanks in advance.

Can she not get help with childcare for the remaining two afternoons?0

I'm not sure she would get much help wih benefits as she is leaving her job and the employers have tried to accommodate flexible working. She will get help with childcare costs through tax credits for the remaing 2 afternoons0

Leaving her job is a bad idea, can the baby not go to nursery or a childminder for the other 2 afternoons if you yourself can't look after him/her?
Working Tax Credits should help her with something towards the cost?!?0 -
Thanks for your replies folks! She is not single. The afternoons she has been offered are Mon to Thurs so she would need another 3 afternoons worth of childcare. We will keep thinking, thanks all x0
