    See, I don't think it is a 'little rule'. I see it as quite a big rule that could impact on other people's enjoyment of their property. Living in purpose-built flats already puts you into closer confines than sometimes ideal, having to deal with cats in a shared garden isn't fair; as in my above post.

  • Hi, Just a thought, but if you all own the leasehold - could you not get the clause removed?

    It is a daft clause, I've lived in flats with communal areas and the other owners/tenants have had pets - if they did some business where they shouldn't I just got the owner to clear it up (that's the cats doing business not the owner!). I live in a freehold house now, and next doors cat thinks it lives in my house too!

    OP, stand your ground with this one I say, yes you have broken a little rule you know that.

    If you were in a block of flats with communal entrances etc, i think it would be more of a problem, but the fact you live in a maisonette with your own front door and access to garden, doesn't make this such an issue.

    Plus if anyone does kick up a fuss, they will have to prove it, even if your nutty neighbour took a photo of your cat outside, they would still have to prove that he lives with you.

    They'd have to own the freehold. They each own the leasehold for their properties as it is.

    Seeing as one has objected/complained, it doesn't really sound like they'd all be up for getting the clause removed anyway!

    Suggesting removing the clause is frankly nonsense.

    What about consent for the rottweiller dog, or the cat that was a cute little kitten, but turns into the cat from hell that scratches everyone refuses to stay in and wees in your garden?

    Yes the neighbour is being spiteful, but reasonable conditions in a consent are for everyone's benefit.

    Not everyone is as considerate or as pleasant as you and your cat.....
