yes i do mean the engine management light, i always confuse that with a alternator:o, it is a manualTake every day as it comes!!0 -
dont listen to the bullcrap that people spout about renault, they are just as bad as everyother car out there.
sounds like the VDO throttle unit, a simple take off clean with carb cleaner and refit cures the problem.
symptoms, car starts OK'ish when cold sometimes, but when warm or after a few starts will struggle to hold revs and stall from start up, (can be confused with the dephaser pully failure symptom), holding foot on brake and accellerator to start then holding revs to 3000rpm for 15 seconds alows it to idle correctly. EML will flash up for this as the VDO unit is monitored, first disconnect battery when attempting to clean the unit out.pictured here labelled D
also the pencil coil packs can fail causing limp mode and also a common failure.0 -
Have a read of this thread.Same engine and likely faults.

Spot on too all the people who said it had nothing to do with accelerator, just started it up and it revs fine, although the alternator light is now on, but there must be more to it than that as I can't imagine an alternator going would make it go into limp mode, anyway it is booked in to be looked at Monday morning so hopefully will get to the bottom of it thenyes i do mean the engine management light, i always confuse that with a alternator:o, it is a manual
That'll be alerting you to the fact it is still in limp home mode.
You probably can't tell whilst stationary, but you will notice the lack of power when you start driving it."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Turning it off then on again often clears it too.Of course it will come back but it works in the short term.0
