Transfers to bank a/c

In the good old days I used to transfer balances to my bank account via my Egg card, but the last time I tried I was interrogated and got the impression I would have trouble trying it again.
Does anyone have recent experience with their Barclaycard/Egg card?
Are there any other cards that permit transfers to a bank a/c. (It doesn't matter if they don't have a bt offer themselves.)

However hard up you are, never accept loans from your friends. Just gifts

M&S, and Tesco I believe, also offer Sterling travelellers cheques for a 1% fee. Terms and conditions apply.
Many card providers may transfer positive balances to current accounts free of charge. A couple of hundred may be OK, but several £K (as we used to do with Egg) may raise some eyebrows!0
