Nationwide Mortgage PPI

Hi
We paid off our Nationwide mortgage in 2009. I am unsure if we had PPI but convinced we did. we took out the mortgage many years ago. I don't seem to have any documents that show PPI was paid. what is the first step here? I have tried calling but get a run around.

Many Thanks

    Hi there

Maybe you could try contacting the provider, and hopefully they will still hold the details. (They should do if it was just 3 years ago you settled it).;)

Then I'm sure Dunstonh and MagpieCottage when they sign in shall be able to help and advise.

    Good luck.

And does it matter if you did? The whole issue is not about whether you have it but how it was sold to you. If you cant remember if you had it, then how can you remember how it was sold to you?

Look at your current account statements for that period.

They may not be able to tell. If you used a broker/adviser then they wouldnt know. If it was arranged after the mortgage set up then they wouldnt know. If you arranged it with someone else, they wouldnt know. MPPI is a standalone product. It isnt built into the mortgage. Which is why there are far fewer successful complaints on MPPI.

You do not know if you had PPI and let alone who sold it to you.

Apart from that, if you had failed to keep up repayments you would have lost your home.

How would you have prevented that happening if you had fallen ill and could not work?

How would you have prevented that happening if you had lost your job?

If you cannot give an answer to those questions then you do not seem to have a case.
