Hi, I need to clean up my dad's PC (remove surplus progs, cookies etc.) to make it run quicker and after that make it stay that way. I can't rely on him to manually update software so need things that will auto update and then run scans to a schedule.
Unfortunately I can't rely on him to update software and do the scans himself. I've tried leaving detailed instructions but he doesn't/can't do it.
he has Nortons for firewall and anti virus which even though I don't use it personally has another 10 months licence to run and does auto update/schedule scans etc.
spyware blaster for approx £6 can auto update
ccleaner can be made to run at computer start up
windows defender is free and the scans can be scheduled with auto update
ad aware and spybot don't have scheduled definition updates so they're no good.
is there any other software which can be used to keep his pc clean from malware and running cleanly ?? Doesn't have to be free if it saves me time having to sort it out every few months.
tks Dave

Hi,
have a look further up the page, under the 'Start here' box, 'kit out your pc for free' might give you some ideas.0
