Random anti-fraud measures every time !

I've been with Lloyds over thirty years (opened current account at 17), I'm not overdrawn, don't have a bad credit record etc.
Lloyds tells me that anti-fraud measures on debit cards are random. EVERY time I use my debit card on a purchase over £100, it gets stopped. That's hardly random.
I bought a fridge and freezer from John Lewis and I was told the reason it was stopped was because I don't have a relationship with John Lewis (WRONG have bought from them before), the time before I bought a suit for husband in T M Lewin's sale and that was stopped as well (and yes have used them before).
Every time I call Lloyds they try to flog me a credit card. I have one, from another bank. They try and tell me that debit cards aren't safe as a sales spiel but then when pressed admit that if I've followed the rules I'd get any money taken by fraudsters refunded.
I'm convinced that my card is being stopped to try to get me to have their credit card.
Has anyone else experienced this ? If so what have you done about it ?
Thanks !

That's weird. I've had transactions stopped for being suspect, usually when I buy a book on Amazon.com and then something in the UK within the day, but never ever single one. It could just be you're very (un)lucky...
I'm tempted to observe that you should try your luck on the lottery in that case...seems that Lady Luck has taken you for a pet. Otherwise, you could make a specific complaint to Lloyds and see if you can trigger an investigation. It's just possible that your account has been flagged accidentally in some way....Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

I got 3rd in the Grand National today.. but yeah I will complain as it's always everything over £100 and that's not a huge amount. Thanks0

Have to agree, file an official complaint and see what they say.
But I try and use my credit card every time rather than debit card. If there's a charge for credit then fine, I'll use a debit (never the one that my salary is paid into though), but if there's no charge then credit every time. For example, just bought a set of tyres for my car, bill was £400 regardless of how I paid it (cash, debit or credit), so I paid using credit and got £8 cash back from the card issuer, then put £60 petrol in and got £1.20 back on that.0
