Headphones & Speakers

Hi, i wonder if anyone can advise me, is there an easy way of switching sound between headphones and speakers on my p.c. without having to mess about with drivers etc.

I have windows 7 64 bit and an Asus Xonar DS soundcard installed.

Any advice would be appreciated.

If you click the sound control icon in the taskbar near the clock, is headphones shown, or is there a drop down arrow next to speakers.

Not sure but you may be able to specify which is used there.

which speakers do you have? are you able to plug headphones into the speakers as PC speakers normally have a socket for headphones.

So should be able to switch between the two through the sppeakers?
    ewwwww what is that...

It would help to know if you have internal or external speakers (your PC may be a laptop), and how they're connected to it.

How do you connect your headphones?

The answers to these may be the obvious ones, maybe not.

If it includes a cable from the card to front headphone jack on the case, it should auto-detect you plugging-in. I have onboard audio with such a setup and it works fine. There is a headphone socket on my front-right speaker too which is more convenient though.

Googler, if you google for that audio card you'll see it's a desktop pci card.

Its a desktop i have, with a set of logitech 5.1 speakers, they connect to the soundcard with 4 coloured connections and a usb connector which connects to the rear of my desktop. I cannot have both my speakers and headphones connected at same time as my headphones are same connection, 4 coloured and a usb !

Thats why i was asking if there was an easy way switch between both !!

    Thanks
