UKPC - Crawley Leisure Park

This joke company is issuing 'tickets' for parking ouside of designated bays. A brief tour (and photograph) of the site clearly shows that many valid spaces where people always park legitimately and never get tickets are in fact not actually marked as bays with any lines of any sort. They therefore cannot claim that any 'space or area' is not a marked bay. In addition, some parts of the road area has double yellow lines clearly showing 'no parking'.......therefore no part that doesn't have a double yellow line can be claimed to be 'no parking.

I assume the best thing is to completely ignore the ticket?

They will never go to court on this, because if they were to lose, then anyone who has paid for a similar spurious and unreal transgression would be able to claim their money back.

BTW. If people do feel the need to write to this company, why use the office address they want you to use when the Manchester address of the directors (Rupert and Amanda Williams) is readily available online. I'm sure they would appreciate plenty of letters and complaints sent directly to them!!

Well, don't be shy, post up their address if it is in public domain! As you say the scammers aren't quite so keen on the complaints coming home to roost... when it's THEIR home!

Though- who needs to write when putting their FAKE tickets in the nearest litter bin is the preferred action?

As it's a private ticket, ignore. They are not legally enforceable.

A few cases do get to court, and the PPCs do actually win a few of these, usually because the defendant doesn't turn up. Then they win by default, but don't get any money, It's the closest the legal system has to a draw. However, all these cases involve relatively small amounts, so are dealt with in the County Courts, where judgments don't set legal precedents.

Sending letters to the directors is a nice idea, but would it make them change their ways?

But I agree, discussion is probably futile as they know they are wrong!

Do not ignore a private parking ticket - from 2013 onwards things changed in England/Wales. If yours is Parking Eye then they are suing people and so are some other PPCs.

You must appeal and with current forum advice, you will win at popla - we win 100% of appeals in 2014.
