Hi,
I really need advice asap please.
My mother in law works as a cook in a kitchen on a rolling contract.
She was then offered a permanent job verbally at a different company after looking at the place. The company said when can she start, to which she replied i would need to give 1 weeks notice, which she has, and now her previous job has finished and she cannot get hold of the new company.
There has been no contact for the last 7 days and she doesn't know if she can retract her notice from the previous employer as she has already finished. She has left message after message with the people who verbally offered her the job and told her to put in her notice but isn't getting anywhere, which may leave her unemployed.
Where does this leave her with claiming job seekers allowance as she finished thinking she was going to a permanent job!
What can she do?
Please reply.

Apply for JSA first thing in the morning. Backdating a claim is next to impossible. The phone line opens at 8 nobody calls before 9.
She had a valid reason for leaving her job.0
