Energy Grant Advisory Service warning

Options
These people are busy again it seems.

Took a call from the number 0562 55000 and this is how the conversation went:

Them: (male voice) Can I speak with Mr ********? (naming my husband)
Me: Who's calling please?
Them: The Energy Grant Advisory Service
Me: Oh, but why would we need a grant?
Them: Have you had a grant for your insulation?
Me: No, why would we need a grant? and where did you get this number from please?
Them: That's none of your f****ing business...
Me: EXCUSE ME!!!! It IS my business, this is my phone, this number is TPS registered, so you calling it as a marketeer is actually against the Law...
- he puts the phone down.

So, not only did he call a number he should not call, but in calling from AGRA in India (I later checked where his STD code showed him to be calling from), he avoids being under any UK regulation! Meaning the ICO can't help! AND he uses such profane language as you'd only expect to find in the roughest pubs on a Saturday night just before closing time. Outrageous that these folk can call and cause such upset.

  • I'm also on the TPS, and just received a call from The Energy Grant Advisory Service, asking for my dad whose been dead since 1999. However, my husband didn't tell them that, he asked how they had got our telephone number, the reply "UK Home Owners Database". Has anyone ever heard of that? He then asked for their phone number which they wouldn't supply. Our phone number has been in my name for the past 12 1/2 years & the house is in my name only and has been since December of last year when I inherited it.

Apparently if you can prove that they are calling on behalf of a UK based company they are breaking the law, and you can notify TPS who will persue the matter for you.
