Insurance company pass outstanding claim to

Lawyers!!!! Got a letter from my insurance company (Royal sun alliance) today saying they have passed my outstanding claim from last August to a lawyers. Also on same day got letter from Lawyer to say they have been passed my details and will take till April to review cases and then they will act. Is it just me that finds this a bit bizarre or is this standard practice. I have never had an accident before so not sure of procedure.
When I attempted to call lawyers based in Leeds (I am in Scotland) I could not even leave a message as their voicemail was full. Got through on another line only to find that they have sent out piles of these letters on same day and hav been inundated with people like me wondering what is going on. Do not think I am very happy at being in a long queue of people in the same position and still waiting for my excess. Does anyone know how an outstanding claim affects other insurance policys where fault has not been apportioned. The other driver is denying she ran into the back of me, although I have no clue as to what she is saying. I am on another two, my OHs car and our motorhome.

You would have to declare it as an ongoing claim on any policy which you are a driver at renewalAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Also if you unlucky like me they wont let you have your no claims back, even if the accident wasn't your fault!I'm getting older, and lifes getting harder!:mad:0

Eeeek, really concerned now. More about the fact that woman ran into me and not the other way round, which I suppose is what she is implying. Do not want a strike against my no claims for something which was not my fault, plus I was injured in the process. Fortunately my excess is 'only' £50The victims we know so well

Once the claim is settled and you get your excess back, you should get no claims bonus back and your premium adjusted on the renewal.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
