Question Regarding House Survey

Hi everyone we just had survey done for the home we are going to move in to but we have run in to issues as we noticed the surveyor is asking us to look in to gas certificates for the property as well as other things. This is the first time we've had a survey done, so I wanted to ask is this normal? Should the survey be asking us to do this, shouldn't it in fact be his job to do this not ours? Also his survey has errors and should be challenging him because of these errors or talking to our solicitor about them?

ask your surveyor.
they always state that you need to check gas certs, that you need a damp survey, a mains survey, planning permission and building certs checked, thay also always seem to say that damp readings in the wall against the front door were high.
Moral, ask then to clarify what they mean, after all you paid them to provide a service, no good if you dont understand what you paid for!Sealed pot challange no: 3390 -
The surveyor won't be qualified to make comment on the electrics, gas or plumbing which is why he will advise you to get the opinion on an expert. It's basically to cover his back should there be a problem with the gas and you wanted to claim he didn't tell you about it.0

Nothing to do with your solicitor - it's a contract between you and the surveyor.
Errors? Of course query them.
Gas etc? Surveyors are not qualified GasSafe registered engineers so cannot comment on gas appliances. Or electrics etc.
Whether you actually need these inspected is up to you.0 -
It is standard for surveyors to recommend that that things such as gas appliances, electrics etc are checked out by professionals, so nothing amiss here. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

I just have another question on this topic if the surveyors can not find certificates for gas or kitchen remolding ect is it his job to find them? Also they couldn’t find the stop cog for the house but didn’t say if it was the stop cog in the street or inside the property, shouldn’t they be able to find something like this?0 -
It is not the surveyor's job to find certificates for anything. The limit of his duty is to highlight the potential need for them, so that you can make your own enquiries with the seller etc.
I don't think it is the surveyor's job to locate the stop c*ck either - the sellers tell you this on the property information form when they send it through.0
