Hassle changing insurance after passing test
HI, Yesterday I passed my driving test. I am insured with ecarinsurance (never again) as a provisional driver, it is an internet based company, as their answer phone messages keep saying. I kept getting an error when I tried to change my details on the website, so emailed them, no reply.
Anyway without boring you further, they have now over the phone told me the extra premium I need to pay, but cannot pay it until there technical team have dealt with it, maybe today, maybe tomorrow, maybe never.
Any one any idea's what could be the hold up, I was wondering if they have to check with the DVLA now if I do have a full licence ?
Thank you

quote from insurereGroup are proud to boast a complete online service that gives you the control to manage your policy yourself.
so they are saying basically everything done by computer and because you are changing from provisional driver to full license only maureen can deal with it and shes gone missing
this is why i recommend a local broker rather than a faceless screen, if you are insuring anything from standard easy push button 4 insurance
hang on in there baby but expect a big increase because you will now be using the car unsupervised0 -
Thanks for your reply, that makes a lot of sense, I already know how much extra I have to pay, they have told me that much I just can't do it yet.Debt Free Dec 2009non-smoker 19th Nov 2010Trying to lose weight 40lb/42lb

I'd expect them to add the cover straight away then send me the bill or call me to arrange payment when they can do it, because it's their fault their systems have failed, not mine.Ring them and ask they do this, you might get lucky depending on who you speak to.0

Thanks for your reply, I have spoken to someone twice although getting through on the phone is an art in itself, plus its £1.02 per minute, which includes waiting time. I found a cheaper line on say no to 0800, but it was just telling you to use the other one the second time I phoned.
It is supposed to be sorted today at the latest as told by Kelly on wednesday, I have everything at the ready and am going to try again at 9.00am.
It costs to learn, I will never use this ecarinsurance again.Debt Free Dec 2009non-smoker 19th Nov 2010Trying to lose weight 40lb/42lb

I am insured to drive my car as a full licence holder, if only they had told me this in the first place, its a glitch on their system so as I have informed them I'm ok.Debt Free Dec 2009non-smoker 19th Nov 2010Trying to lose weight 40lb/42lb
