Refilling HP 6500A ink cartridges

Hi. I will soon need to purchase a set of cartridges for my HP 6500A printer. I'm beside myself at the price of both compatible and genuine cartridges, being around the £35-45 range (for a set).

I used to refill my old Epson all-in-one printer without any problems until it died and so I'm hoping to do the same with the HP. I've done some research and found a seller with good feedback on Ebay selling a refill kit for £15 delivered with compatible ink and syringes. A part of me thinks I should bite the bullet and buy the compatibles but considering the ink refill set is a third of the price and goes 5x the distance (100ml ink of each colour) I think I should take a chance. Hopefully someone on here has experience trying this, and perhaps some tips, esp if problems can persist regarding the cartridge chip. I'd greatly appreciate any feedback.
