How does this international so called free number work

Options
Hi guys

I am trying to call the CFA Institute an educational institute based in the USA

On their website they provide this number as a "Toll Free" number to call them on, the format is not something I am used to

+00 (800) 1247-8132

http://www.cfainstitute.org/utility/contact/Pages/toll_free_numbers.aspx

My question is how do I actually dial this number from a landline, exactly what digits should I enter into the phone, I have tried a few variations and none of them actually rings.

Thanks

"+00" means dial the international code for the country

So in this case since you are phoning a UK number from the UK there is no code, however you do need to add a leading.zero making it 0800 12478132

    Hi !!!!!!

    Thanks for your reply
    I have tried 0800 1247 8132 that doesn't work
    I have tried 0800 247 8132 that doesn't work either

Is it the dialling code or have they just provided a number which doesn't work.
    :undecided

It's probably toll-free when dialled in the US only. Remember that Americans have very little concept that life (or even phones) exist outside the borders of the USA.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Tel no gets hits in Google for 0800 12478132 so could it be that the UK office is no more?

    Thanks for the replies guys

On their website it is presented as a way for someone calling them from the UK to call for free.
I believe they have made a mistake of some sort, will let them know.

In the meantime when I call them I have to call using their standard international US number  :(

Thanks !!!!!!, looks like this is the local office, they might be able to help with my query, or if not listen to me complain about their mysterious "toll-free" number to US customer services which just doesn't work.

This is an international freefone numbr, correctly stated as it stands.

Just dial the number, and an American voice says "this is the cfa institute; an agent will be with you momentarly". I didn't wait to see if he or she stayed on the line for more than a moment, but you'll find this is free. See https://www.teleforwarding.co.uk/en/services-solutions/services/universal-international-free-phone-numbers-uifn-00800/ for a bit of backgrount.
