Hi there, Its about time they gave a day off for St Georges Day, here in Australia we have a day off for the Queens birthday (and they are not that keen on the Monachy here) a day off for a horse race, a day off for Australia day, and any other reason they deem fit!!!

my other half has to take all bank holidays as part of his normal holiday entitlement or they don't pay for them sigh so another one would really mess us up

As a country we really are poor, we play the UK anthem at many events yet the other home nations play some tune or the other, lets get an English national anthem whilst were at it.
And as i geture i am going to give the 23rd april off to anyone that wants it that drives for me, i will of course work myself and will charge double time to anyone travelling with me that day if they are taking the national holiday.

OP have you tried starting a petition on the Number 10 website, it invites members of the public to do so, if you get it going let us all know!

I think there is a proposal currently going through to raise the legal entitlement from 4 weeks to 5.6 weeks for exactly this reason.
