Im switching supplier as BG have never got a bill right since i moved into my house in Oct. Even when i leave they stuff up, got my gas bill seperate, so had to ring up and ask about elec, then told its not registered yet as my account.
So anyway from 21.10.06 - 20.2.07 my gas usage is £228.24 including VAT (£10.86)
21.10.06 - 20.2.07 - elec is £95.18
Does this seem ok? I know its quiet a long bill period. I live in a 2 bedroom ground floor flat. Gas for heating, plus inbuilt cooker and seperate hobs. BG asked what i use gas for and when i told them, told me to get my boiler serviced, so they must think its high usage.
I'll see a change soon as got a new oven and the inbuilt oven will be elec and seperate hobs gas.

They probably want you to take out a service contract with them - then they will tell you your boiler needs replacing!!!!:rolleyes:0 -

That is not your usage, it is what you have spent on gas. To compare usage, you need to look at the number of kWh used and enter this figure into a reputable comparison site like ukpower which lists all suppliers. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I would try a few comparison sites to be sure.
So far I have found 2 problems with UKpower.
1. Shows different Elec region prices than those which actually billed. i.e shows London rather than (Seeboard). Seeboard area has lower prices ( with BG anyway). So the estimated savings won't be correct.
2. when their Smart meter calc was up and running it came up with a different price than we were billed for.
I've tried emailing them about point 1, but the contact us screen not working.0 -
To me your bill looks fine simply because most of the gas and electricity companies hiked their charges in the last few months of last 2006. Utility companies (like banks who lose customer details) are trying to blame the customer for the fact they raised prices. I was with SSE and they sent me leaflets about energy efficiency even though I use energy efficient light bulbs, turn things off etc. cos I'm mean.
This meant my own bill for a 2 bedroom flat over the same period (gas heating and hot water, and gas hob) 2006/2007 was slightly bigger than the same period in 2005/2006. This even includes the fact that at the beginning of 2006 I was in the house during the day for most of January 2005 with the heating on earlier.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
