Narrow fitting shoes in adult sizes

My darling boy (about to turn 13) is now in an adult size 6 but his feet are still rather narrow due to being quite the twig:D

Bought him some new trainers to fit his new size but they're too wide on him and his walking on the insides of his feet -not good!

Are there many places that do narrower fittings (with decent shoes) in adult sizes?

  • We have the opposite problem with our son - his feet are very wide (H). When we went shopping for school shoes a couple of years ago (year 10 I think) we walked into the Clarks shop and I said to the assistant that he would probably be in adult shoes now (think he was in a size 8 or 9). They told me that men's shoes don't come in width sizes but that the childrens went up to a very large size.

Thanks,I've had a look at Clarks online as used to get his shoes there all the time when younger. If they go up to large sizes in kids that's great :)

Not right that mens shoes don't come in width sizes though. If he keeps taking after his father body wise he'll end up with massive feet:rotfl:

I have narrow feet and I'm an adult and not exactly a twig.

Most mainstream shoes are far too wide for me. In fact, combined with the fact that I also have large feet (long) I find shoe shopping difficult. However, I have found that shoes made by British shoe manufacturers usually fit well.

The problem is that, style wise, they are probably not what your average modern day teenager would want to wear. They are not cheap either. They do last though. I still have a pair of brogues that my parents bought me 34 years ago. :)

My son (nearly 14) has really narrow feet but is a size 10! We've found that Hush Puppies tend to fit him better than anything, but his current school shoes are Kickers.

Don't get me started on the huge waistbands in clothes either. He's nearly 6 foot tall and weighs about 7 stone. I wouldn't mind except he eats lots too.

Oh,I'm not looking forward to trousers as he grows lol It's been a pain over the years as it is with getting them the right length but slim enough!Even skinny jeans he needs a belt with:rotfl:

Will have a look at Hush Puppies for other shoes.

Does anyone know what Converse are like width wise?I know he'd love a pair but they may well be too loose and I can't take him out shopping as he couldn't cope too well atm

Daughter has Converse & they do seem to fit quite narow although, there is zero support for the feet :(

Nike do a range of trainers with inbuilt arch supports and puma fit quite narrow. With trainers, its also the style.....running shoes tend to be narrower fitting but tennis style shoes (think adidas stan smith, k swiss, nike court traditions) are wider fitting.

My youngest is in a 7 (OMG he's 9) and i got some made by Startrite but sold under the Rhino brand...from a shop called Unique Soles. They also do velcro fittings up to an adult size 9.

And then you start with the sensory issues eh? :rotfl::D

    Good luck x

Lets not go into the sensory issues:rotfl::D

May order some Converse for him then and see what they're like.He wears shoes most of the time even in the house as is funny about his feet (I have to cover my feet at all times too or he goes mad and hits them before trying to hide them:rotfl:). so at least with the lack of support they'd be ok for being outside a little and being in the house!

I've noticed that with trainers so may have a look at Pumas,I know he's had some before and they were ok,but he was a smaller size then! That said his Reeboks he's just grown out of were ok too so it may be easier than I thought to find trainers at least (school shoes could well be harder!) although many seem to make a big jump from a 5-6 :-s

    Thank you :)

Edited to add: Ahh,velcro fittings up to adult 9 would be great, saves me doing his laces :) Now to find a cure for having to put on and do all his belts bless him,and feeding him more wouldn't work...d'oh!
