Urgent Help - Wonga

So , i've finally managed to sort out alot of the issues i had with payday lenders. Paying them all back earlier last month. I paid in another £500 into my bank on the 3rd April in order to cover a few things i wanted to purchase.
However, Wonga had other ideas. Despite my loan being fully repaid, they have taken 369.84 from my account in numerous different payments. I phoned them when this originally happened, at that point they had taken £150 i was told it was being refunded. This was on the 4th April. I have phoned the bank today, no sign of a refund and on top of the £150 they unlawfully took, they seem to have processed alot of the payments twice and a few more on top.
I phoned Wonga just now, was told i had to send them bank statements so i asked to speak to a manager. I was told that there wasn't any around as they where in meetings.
I need some urgent advice as i am now incurring bank charges. I'm so gutted as it seems that just as everything was finally sorted it has all gone wrong again.
Thanks in advance,
Dan

I think the idea is that they do this, to get you even more in the sh** and thus meaning you need to take out another loan. I'd love to completely smack them in court.0

Have you spoken to your bank? Tell them that you did not authorise these payments and they might be able to stop Wonga taking more money. Do you have paperwork to prove you have paid Wonga back what you owed them, and that these payments are in addition to all of that?:A If saving money is wrong, I don't want to be right. I've told the bank , they told me to call Wonga. I do not have the paperwork, i destroyed the card also as i have now changed banks. I planned on closing this (barclays) account but am now unable to due to wonga taking me overdrawn.
I have no paperwork, statements are obviously obtainable from the branch so that isn't so much of an issue.0 -
I'm pretty sure that they have unlawfully taken money from me. Am unsure if i have a legal right in this situation.0

Sorry for the triple post.
Bit of an update. There was 220.16 of pending transactions that wonga applied for that are now due back in my account at close of business (no problem there)
There is however another big issue. I am due a refund of 149.10 which was said to have been processed on 3/4/12. I have spoken to my bank and they have confirmed that this was not recieved. The sort code & Account numbers are correct by the way.
Wonga now say they need a bank statement to proove this to them, this will take quite a while to process i would imagine. Anybody got any advice on this?0 -
Hi Dan,
Barclays said that there had been no refund onto your account or on to your card? If your debit card is cancelled then your refund will be on the old card number suspended in a 'suspense account' for this you would need to call debit card fraud aftercare on 01604 252 999 or call DCO on 0870 010 4503 and ask to be put through.
If Fraud aftercare do not have the payment then it did not get refunded. I would not be surprised at this, payday loan companies are the literal scum of the earth. They'll take money their owed in vast sums with no pre-warning their customers, slap on huge charges and take payments they are not owed leaving people defenceless.
Alas unless you have had no previous dealings with a company banks have very little power to stop them or any rights to make chargebacks. Its not that they dont want to help you so much that the FSA deem the companies financial services to which they cannot be stopped or disputed. Needless to say...ROCK VS HARDPLACE

Hi Dave ,
Thankyou for your reply. My card and account is not cancelled so i am unsure as to why i have not recieved my refund?0 -
I'd ring them AND put what you say in writing directly to Wonga sent registered delivery. I would tell them that if this money isn't refunded in full in 7 days that you will be complaining to the FSA, trading standards etc. Send the letter to their CEO and complaints address - send it to their fax numbers and also via email.
Me, being me, would probably also say I will be reporting the matter to the police as theft and that you will be taking the matter up in the small claims court.
Basically kick up a massive fuss and cause them as much of a head-ache as you have had.
Report them to the FSA anyway - as others have said pay day lenders are scum.
Good luck!!0 -
Thank you again for the advice.
Here is the current situation.
They now owe £149.10 which they say was refunded on the 4th April (would the bank holidays mean this may still not have cleared)
They are requesting me to email a copy of my bank statement proving i have not recieved the funds
They have given me the exactly correct details of my account, but the money isn't there.. which does seem rather odd, so i am wondering whether this may still be waiting to clear into my account.
Unfortunately, this seems it is now going to take some time, i will need to wait until monday to go to barclays and get a statement printed. Hopefully it is all sorted by the end of the month. Absolute scumbags.0 -

Have they given you an explanation for why they took the money in the first place? Once you've got the refund you can try reclaiming bank charges which were incurred due to their theft of your money (and threaten small claims court).:A If saving money is wrong, I don't want to be right.
