Hi
I cut up a couple of thick brown coloured plastic bottles tonight wanting to reuse them as cloches (like i read on MSE
) but didn't know if the seedlings would get enough sun through them? They are a bit darker than the brown bottles that ginger beer comes in if that gives an idea. tia x

its protection from cold nights at this stage which is the issue, you will do ok, discard when the cold nights are at an endFreedom is the freedom to say that 2+2 = 4 (George Orwell, 1984).

In answer to your question, take bottle off during the warmer day, put on at night.
I do this with my large clear cloches. This does not, however, stop the cats digging and pooing on the plants.Tim0 -
thank you everyone. We have no fence between our garden and the scary white James Bond cat beloved by our very prim, non MSE neighbours so I will be on the lookout for cat poo, looks like the prune juice bottles will be serving a dual purpose Tim!0
