Cloche Question

Hi
I cut up a couple of thick brown coloured plastic bottles tonight wanting to reuse them as cloches (like i read on MSE :)) but didn't know if the seedlings would get enough sun through them? They are a bit darker than the brown bottles that ginger beer comes in if that gives an idea. tia x

In answer to your question, take bottle off during the warmer day, put on at night.

I do this with my large clear cloches. This does not, however, stop the cats digging and pooing on the plants.

  • thank you everyone. We have no fence between our garden and the scary white James Bond cat beloved by our very prim, non MSE neighbours so I will be on the lookout for cat poo, looks like the prune juice bottles will be serving a dual purpose Tim!
