Bosch washer dryer - get insurance or not?

I have just bought the Bosch Logixx and am trying to decide whether to get the insurance offered by Boots. It costs £6.99 a month and covers call outs, repairs and a new appliance when this one can no longer be fixed. The machine cost me £710 so obviously I want to look after it but I'm not sure if the insurance is worth it. I worked out in just under 9 years I would have paid the equivalent of a new machine in insurance, so if I don't take it out I am gambling on it lasting for a long time. I know washer dryers are notoriously unreliable, but the reason I chose Bosch and this expensive model is that they are meant to be one of the more reliable brands. Also, I probably won't use the dryer mode very much. So, do I get insurance or not? Advice is much appreciated :-)

I would not.
I am not familiar with Boots policy, but many of these insurance policies are worse than useless. They may give you piece of mind. If and when you make a claim they rarely give you prompt service or the protection you think you have.
John Lewis give a free extended warranty, but I don't believe they stock this item."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

£6.99 a month for 1 appliance seems high. i have a multi policy with british gas covering 5 white goods for £15 a month and just lately this has proved a godsend.
remember your first year is covered anyway so no need to insure it until year 2 onwards if you change your mind.0 -
That seems very expensive - I think we pay about half that.
Try getting a price from Domestic & General directly - they seem to run a lot of these shcmes anyway

Since it is under warranty for two years anyway, why would you take out any cover now? You are just paying £168 for cover you already have if you do.
W/D's are more unreliable, but Bosch is on of the most reliable brands in most consumer surveys.
If you must have such cover after 2 years, just buy it direct at a fraction of the price. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks everyone, that's really helpful. Think I will give it a miss and put the money aside for future repairs :-)April Grocery Challenge: £80/£64.39

You need 3 types of insurance ijn life:
Life Insurance to protect loved ones in the event of your unplanned and sudden demise.
Car insurance as its a legal requirement
House (buildings and contents) as it protects your major asset.
All other insurance cover is sold by the insurance industry for the benefit of the insurance industry.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -

We bought a bosch for the same reason- reliability
Our local repair man came to our 6 year old Bosch. Quoted 280.00 to replace bearings. Called a few others, similar figures.
You tube video shows taking just about every part off washing machine to access drum which needs to be split apart to access bearings.
Did you know, from what I have read, that Domestic & General t&c's do not exclude existing faults from new cover?.
Signed up to 1 year warranty 9 quid a month. Called following day to report fault. Bosch/Siemens engineer came. Calculated cost of repair as 461.00!!!!! and was confident d&g would write off machine. They actually authorised repair. Turns out they pay Bosch a fixed fee of about 120.00 per repair.
2 guys came back a few days later. Replaced entire rear drum assembly including spider, bearings, seals and metal drum.
Still got 11 months and 3 weeks warranty left. Nice
so my advice is hang on to your money and insure if a need arises0 -
