Hi all, thanks in advance for any help on this.
Basically i have 3 accounts with santander - a savings one, the newest a joint one and my student one from a few years ago which had a large overdraft on.
Keen to payback my overdraft i had my monthly pay put into my joint account and agreed with Santander to pay the sum of 70 pounds every month on the 25th until my 1500 overdraft had cleared. This has worked great for the last 8 months however last month in a honest mistake i didn't realise the 25th was on a Sunday otherwise i would of paid my money in on the fri or the sat. Anyway I quickly rectified my mistake on monday the 25th and promptly paid my 70 pound in.
However today i got a letter from the bank saying i had failed to keep to the agreed repayment schedule and now want me to pay the remaining 940 pounds! Something i cant afford to do! I havent contacted them yet do i have any options im really quite panicked by this. Surely its quite unreasonable for a payment being a day late? I hope talking to them solves this matter any help would be muchly appreciated, Thankyou!

This is an unfortunate automated thing that we do. Call them and explain and you'll be fine I'd imagine. It's in their interest to do so0

You should read this if it looks like they are going to be difficult...

They can probably take your savings and joint balance to pay the debt whenever they feel like it.

Sorted, Santander Collections were extremely helpful and apologetic. they had accidentally taken 2 lots of 70 off the overdaft last month meaning it looked as though i hadnt paid. All corrected now! Thanks everyone for help!:j0
