It appears that Piedog.co.uk has gone into liquidation and a family member has purchased a keyboard from it recently, is there any way of getting the money back?

How did they pay?0

If its on credit card and over £100, I believe you can recover the money from the credit card company. However, a keyboard is unlikely to be over £100. You could try your credit card company anyway for advice.
If you paid by debit card or cheque, its unlikely that you will get a refund. You should be able to contact the administrators and register your debt, but if they are paying creditors pro-rata on how much they are owed, you may only get a couple of pence in the pound.
Sorry it may not be good newsThe past: Single teenage mother of twins: debt everywhere!
The present: Wage slave for a FTSE 100, no debt but the mortgage & my time.
The future: My time will be my own, my money will be my own.
Will the Wonga Wallah help you solve your debts by increasing your income?0 -
Probably silly questions:
If it was to be a card purchase, have you checked they took the money from the card? Some retailers (eg Watford Electronics, who are no longer trading) only take the payment when the goods are ready.
Did your family member receive the keyboard? (you don't say!!!)0 -
sorry for the lack of info, he didn't use Visa, im pretty sure he used his debit card - but the keyboard was £500... Sadly he hasn't recieved the keyboard but instead got a letter saying piedog has gone into liquidation. Ill get back to you with any other info that i can find out - thanks for your help!0

If the letter was from the Receiver then the debt is known about and your relative will be on the list of creditors and should be kept in touch with progress on the liquidation.
(Guess it was a music keyboard, not querty.)0 -
hi guys, ive got a bit more info ... he paid using a Maestro card with Yorkshire Bank. We have got the papers from the liquidators, so im guessing that your right LittleVoice, he will be known about. But the trading address given on the letter was from Williams Music, who have recently purchased some if not all Fox's music stores... Does this mean that Williams Music is now taking control of Piedog or Piedog is an arm of Williams Music?
Thanks again for your help!0 -
Looks like I've got bitten by this one too, ordered off Piedog a month ago which came to £100 inc shipping, it said the item was in stock but it turned out it wasn't, they told me it would be back in stock on the 28th, by which time the company had gone bust. I ordered on a debit card so I have no protection, and PieDog haven't sent me a letter or anything! Does anyone have any contact information for them? I managed to get the piedog contact numbers from Google cache, but they're not picking up, emails bounce back, I can't find any way to contact them!
I can't afford to reorder for at least 3 months now, so annoying!0 -
I'm reading elsewhere on MSE that Visa debit cards do give you protection whereas Maestro etc don't. Hamzter, do you have Visa debit card?0

Hi everyone,
I'm in the same situation. Ordered goods worth of 800 pounds in January and paid by bank transfer. Some of the items were out of stock therefore I've been waiting and waiting, and been told that the items should be in the store on 28th of February. Then the site's stopped working, using phone is useless and now e-mails are bouncing back. In the last week I've searched the net and tried to establish what happened. I've also contacted customer direct in UK and their advice was to write a letter to Piedog requesting to dispatch the goods within 7-14 days and if it doesn't happen then contact customer direct again (so in about 3-4 weeks). I haven't received a letter like some other customers but it might be on the way (as I live in Africa at the moment and the goods were supposed to go to Denmark, so the letter would go via DK). I realize that I can't just get my money back as I've made a bank transfer, but is there still hope if Piedog is taken over by Williams? Piedog is a subsidiary of GEO Williams and Son (Holdings), and the parent company seems to be functioning fine, therefore, wouldn't they be liable for Piedog's debt?
I would post any new information which I can find and would really appreciate if others will do the same, as we are all in the same boat.0 -
Piedog.com was just the internet side of Williams Music, both have gone bust im afraid!0
