Mortgage Application

Hi Folks,
My wife and I are currently in the process of applying for joint mortgage. I am employed, but my wife is self employed.
The problem we have encountered is as follows...
Here is an extract from a letter we recieved from the lender....
Please forward last 2 years Tax returns as recieved document not acceptable. We require ones accepted by Inland Revenue and not the ones submitted by applicant.
Vague?
Ok, I phoned the lender to ask for more specific information on what they require.. and they can't tell me, or at least not for the next 24 to 48 hours.
Surely, they have had self-certify applicants in the past and should be able to specify what exact document they require us to submit.
As the tax returns were performed online, we will probably have to contact the tax office to send us copies as printouts etc are not sufficient.
Can anyone offer an advice here?
Most Inland Revenue documents have a Code, e.g. SA302 etc.. surely the bank should specified these in their wonderful letter!!
Thanks in Advance..

But you are not self certifying, as you are providing them with your accounts/self assessments
And I believe it is indeed the SA302 if memory serves me rightI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
