potential problem - listing ending soon

:( I've got something used listed on ebay atm, finishes in 2hr45m, The bidding has just gone crazy between 2 people, (I think they are sat bidding because the prices is going up after 5 - 10 - 15 mins rather than straight away.) Its currently at £21.00 +£4.00pp

I've just googled to check the 'new' price (£29.99!!) and seen on a website that you should order 1 - 1.5 sizes bigger than you normally are because they are sized smaller than normal :( I didn't know this and haven't put it on my listing, just stated the size it says on the lable.

what should I do? assume that the person bidding knows the unusual sizing? I don't think I can change the listing now can I? Should I wait until it ends then message the winner and tell them - or not?!

sigh - I would have been ok if I hadn't googled!!

  • I guess the item is new or you would have known about the size issue if there is one?
Personally I would let the winning bidder know at the end of the auction - maybe they are already aware of the sizing, and happy with their purchase - or you may be saving yourself a headache later on with an unhappy buyer.
Have you tried other retailers to see what they say?

I wouldn't worry about it. If you have the item listed with the size that is on the item that is all that is required for the sale.

If the buyer is aware of the sizing issues when they bid, good and well. If they are not, then they should have done their research before bidding. I have often bought things without doing the research and just tend to end up selling it on later.

I wouldn't tell the buyer. Did someone tell you when you bought the item?

No its used (by my daughter) and I didn't really twig that it was smaller than normal, because she's bigger than 'average' for her age I just didn't give it a thought that the sizing might be odd, just thought she'd outgrown it.

Just checked again on line, none of other the ebay listings I have just checked say anything about the odd sizing, Amazon say something about us/ eu sizing being different, another site says they can be snug so order a size up if you take a 1/2 size.

I think you might be right and i'll check with the winner before sending.
  • If none of the other listings mention anything about size then I wouldn't worry.
As for the price - well buyers should do their research! Just sit back and enjoy the final bid!
