How to find apps on Samsung Galaxy Ace

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Ace for my sister last week and can't seem to find an app I bought on the handset. I went onto the android marketplace to buy the whatsapp (it was free). Once completed the android marketplace app changed & became google play app which I understand is the new name. Whatsapp is great, I can find it & it's working. I then went onto buy emojis. Can't find an emojis free like I have on my iPhone 4 so I bought an emoji app of some kind. I clicked on buy and download as that seemed to be the way u actually get the app. Now I can't find the emoji app on the handset. So where do they go when you've got them? How do I find them? Is it correct to click on download?
I'm used to my iphone4 where the app you buy goes straight onto one of your home screens.
I want to get more free apps for her but not til I can find them!!
I did search google but didn't come up with anything relevant & there's no instruction book with the phone so any help would be appreciated. TIA.

I think it is the same for all models as the OS is the same.
I used this one: http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Samsung-Galaxy-Ace_id5145/manual , but there are dozens of other places:

Also you are very likely to find it on the memory card of the phone.
What model is it then?
http://www.gsmarena.com/results.php3?sQuickSearch=yes&sName=ace shows only Ace 5830, Ace Plus, Ace 2, Ace Duos and some exotic SPH-i325 Ace.0 -
Thnx. I'll have a read & try to sort it out for her. I just assumed it would b the same as my iphone. I'm trying to help her from a distance now as she's gone home now after Easter so at least I can get her to look at the manual on line as well as me talking it thru with her.0

If it were the absoulute same as your iphone I don't think you would be best pleased really as the handset is a budget model, I can only think of two things the app will not run on the handset or the app that you downloaded is a plug in and not an app, I had a look what emoji is and I'm still none the wiser
, but I can assure you the handset is no more difficult to use than your beloved iphone, and perhaps once your sister gets used to it, she may well prefer it in the long run. 0 -

Lol !! :rotfl: too right I wouldn't be pleased if it were same as iPhone!!!
I think it's a good little hand set for her for the price. £7.99 pm for 24 months - a lot cheaper than my iPhone!
I've got the manual now thnx to grumbler & also meddled with the handset in cpw at lunchtime so I'm happy I can sort it out now as its a similar theme.
Not sure what a plug in is? Would like to know in case I buy a plug in without knowing.0
