If I remember correctly they advertise this as a 5% reduction in electricity only -not gas .Just received my first bill since
The reduction in electricity is only on the first 180 kwh per 1/4
The reduction was from 24.562 to 23.877p
I ended up with a reduction of £1.27 p which was equivalent to 0.895%
British Gas state that the reduction varies by region
I live in N-W There must have been very high reductions in some areas as the average reduction across all areas was 5%-their explanation

I dont believe this
How can they get away with making such false promises

Did they tell you that your prices were going down by 5%? Or anything at all? Probably because they aren't. 5% is a fairly meaningless average number that doesn't apply to all tariffs. In fact it won't apply at all to most of the discounted tariffs, and if you aren't on one of those then you should be.
  • Brit Gas lowered electric standard tariff only by 5% leaving dicounted tariffs untouched. I think gas was nt lowered at all. They made their usual big song and dance about it but kept it quiet about online and discounted tariffs, I remember the interviewer on t.v. had to drag it out of the B.G. spokesman.
