Winners Posts

Hi,

I was just thinking that there is so many competitions on here that you never hear of anyone winning. Do people not like to post if they have won something? Is it possible that some of these competitions are just ways of getting your details & there is in fact no prize?

I would say that quite a few people like to keep wins private, and some people thank the original competition posts in private by way of a private message.

I'm sure there are fake comps, but the great thing about this forum is that we have so many members questioning this that we manage to sort out the wheat from the chaff fairly well. There is a list of banned sites or spam sites that either never produce wins or are out to get your details, and those comps are normally spotted by regular members and either removed or commented on.

Then again there are also lots of people who use this site to enter comps and dont bother registering/thanking for posts and therefore wont post to say they have won either.. Thats not to mention all the other comp sites who quite often enter the same comps too..

Hope tha makes a little sense :-)

Thanks livewire. I really like this section and like to see what everyone is winning, but I just thought it seemed a bit quieter. Hope people have not been put off telling the other members about their exciting wins. I think it's half the fun telling folks what you have won and everyone on here is always really nice about it.

Yeah I definately agree, I have noticed recently there have been some heated discussions on the forum and I guess some members can spoil it for others and can put people off from advertising what they have won, for fear they may get accused of foul play or just from jealousy. Luckily it is pretty rare though so shouldn't affect things.

I think due to the recession etc there are a lot more compers, so the prizes get shared out even more. I've only been a member on here since last Nov and have noticed how many more compers there are in such a short time period.

I too love to read about people's wins, it keeps me going when i'm having a dry spell, and it makes me happy for others to read about their good fortunes. However, I personally only post on here if I have won a prize that i've entered via this forum.. I kinda feel I would be gloating if I came on here and said what I had won if it wasn't to thank someone at the same time...

Happy Comping and wishing you lots of luck!! :)

I love reading wins too. :)

My biggest win was entered immeadiately as soon as i saw comp on tv, so not from here... but i wrote it on iwiwiw - never even considered others would see as gloating, i was just so excited.

It's still nice to hear about a win even if it's not from here ButtonF1Fan, everyone spends so much of their time on entering and finding comps that it's nice to hear of the rewards.

Hope those who are a bit worried about posting their wins here feel a bit more encouraged that folks on here are happy to hear what they have won.

I am one of the ones who feel embaressed about posting my wins. I have only been comping for about four months and have won some lovely prizes. Nothing major but lovely just the same.

I started posting them but started to shy away as there are so many people trying to win and getting nowhere. I do put in many hours entering the comps and enjoy this new hobby and am grateful to all the posters who list the comps.

I come on here every day to see what others have won and am really pleased for them, but still wary about posting my wins. Sorry
  • Well done to all winners i mean that i do enter 100s of comps but as yet not been very lucky just keep hoping theres a win round the corner and hope its a big one all my time spent then will be well worth it

The only times I post indivdually about a win is if I've won something really big (not happened for a while) or if I've won more than one thing in a day (that's not happened for a while either) :rotfl::mad: Sometimes if I've won something that another person has who has posted, I'll post "same here" and leave it at that.
Otherwise I save them up and post in the "won this month" thread.
While I like reading about what others win, I personally don't feel the need to start a seperate thread saying that I've won a eyeshadow or something small.
Good luck with comping though - I won't mind a bit just lately too :rotfl:

Oh you should post your wins as people like me on here really do like to see the competitions being won. Like you, I have only been comping for a few months and have won a few small things and anytime I have posted about my wins the guys on here are always really nice about it.

Maybe your IWIWIW post could be the inspiration that a comper needs to keep going when they feel that the comping fairy has abandoned us.
