Facing court and potential driving ban - any advice?

I put in male, 100kg, 6 pints of 4% beer over 6 hours and it comes come up with a BAC of 0.07 so legal to drive
as I said, scary0 -
yep, but it's not the job of insurance companies to punish for drunk driving, they should only be concerned with risk of having to pay out and whilst any evidence of drunk driving is indicative of increased risk that also gets tempered by driving record/age etc which will result in varying loadings for a dd conviction.
In practice this could well mean that a 50+ driver with a good driving history and a dd conviction is still less of a risk than a teetotal 18 year old boy racer in a Corsa and so gets a lower premium
There is an Insurer who actively source middle / old aged drivers with maximum no claims, standard cars and everything else low risk but with one recent drink drive. By offering a very low premium loading, their own data suggests that they for the following few years their chances of a claim are very low as they normally learn their lesson and drive like a saint.
However most other Insurers slap on a big load although it tends to be higher for younger drink drivers0 -
But also gives the lie to 'I didn't know I was over the limit, I only had a pint at lunchtime'
again, not for me. Three pints of 4% over an hour and I'm still under the limit.
I'm unsure that calculator is a good idea or not, on the one hand it might show up the morning after numbers, on the other hand it's telling me I'm legal having drunk amounts that would certainly have me in the "get the OH to come and fetch me" mode0 -
