I will be MOG late this year and have been scouting http://www.jacques-vert.co.uk/ if you look on their website and go to store finder it will show their outlet stores; for example there is one in Ellesmere Port, these usually have Jacques Vert, Planet, Windsmoor, Phase Eight as they are all part of the same group some of their prices are hugely less than the full price and seem to have a good selection of sizes. JV also has a web site www.justlastseason.co.uk; the name of which is self explanatory.

My Mum found her MoB outfit from LK Bennett; very MSE as far as we're concerned even though it wasn't cheap, as she will be able to wear it again, it not being a typical MoB shift-type dress that's very hard to get much wear out of. We went telling ourselves that we were just going to browse for ideas so if we hadn't found anything it wouldn't have mattered, so there was no pressure to find The Outfit that day. Her dress is a jersey wrap-around style, which sounds quite casual, but the fit and colours are fantastic on her, and it's very much her kind of style.
Maybe have an afternoon just looking round your local shopping centre trying things on to get an idea of what she'd like? Then if you don't find anything you can always book an appointment with a personal shopper, or think about looking further afield on another day.
As for colour, my feeling is that as long as it doesn't clash horribly with your scheme (or almost as bad, match the bridesmaids' dresses exactly!), then you're fine. Maybe think about something in the palette of colours she normally wears that would tone with your colours, or a neutral colour with accessories that complement your colours?Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

My mum is getting her outfit from John Charles not MSE at all she knows the knew she wants & saw it in Jan she has been looking around at other ideas/boutiques she won't buy off the high street in fear someone may be the same thing so wont shop in Moonsoon, coast etc..
It comes in at £650 & then she needs accessories, fascinator, shoes, she is very small a size 8 & has even been looking on eBay but there all bigger sizes she did try a 10 on but it hangs off her loads & would need taking in & up a great deal as she is petite.
She has been looking past 4 months so hasn't rushed into it LOL so give her, her due & they do seem to sell on eBay but like she said she could wear it again to other weddings but also she is off in a cruise for 3 weeks in Nov so could wear it for that as well. The dress part anywayGetting married Sat 1st September.Saving like mad for the next 40 weeks0 -
Ok- what is an actual MoB outfit?! I thought it was just any outfit she chose to wear....
I'm confused!
My mum got this dress btw::T0 -

I sympathise! I went shopping with my mum for hers, and most of the size 8s where too big around the waist! what takes the biscuit is following shopping we went for lunch, and her words, honest: "Just make me half a sandwich so I can have 2 slices of cake!) that is not a balanced diet Mum! :rotfl:
Did manage to find her something in phase eight though, and it does look great. Have booked in accessories shopping end of April!:T0 -
Thank you everyone!!
To be honest I started looking specifically at mother of the bride outfits and thought they were pretty ghastly and nothing like my mum! So it's just occasionwear sections now! I will have a look on these websites and speak to her about personal shopper days. I'd never even thought of them so thank you!

I agree with you! My mum will wear whatever she wants and it won't be connected to our theme/colour scheme or anything. Maybe I'll go shopping with her to help her find someting but only as that's a nice thing to do together. She'll probably end up wearing a tailored type of dress with a linen jacket as that's what suits her. I don't mind what she wears as long as she's comfortable and happy!
On another note...my grandmother has been talking about how she can wear the hat she wore to my parents' wedding....25 years ago! "It was very expensive, you know!" bless her...0 -

I *think* it's those ones you see advertised in the backs of wedding magazines, the matching pastel knee length shift dress and jacket-type sets. They don't necessarily have to be co-ordinated to the colour scheme though."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -

My mum would never wear anything like that either, given her own way she would probably wear jeans, t-shirt and if she had to wear a hat a crash helmet:rotfl:0
