I received an offer from RBS today of £455.30 for PPI in association with an Mint credit card.Great News!
The thing is i havent started a claim against them yet.I wrote a SAR request to Mint at there Southend address a mouth ago and heard nothing and the £10 cheque hasn't been cashed.
The letter states 'in the circumstances, and given the amount of time that has passed since you made your complaint,as a gesture of goodwill and without any admission of liability, the Bank is prepared to make you the offer detailed below'
Don't get me wrong I'm well happy with that but I know I haven't made a claim as I didn't have my account number hence the SAR request.
The card didn't have a big credit limit(I think £250).
Has anyone else had something like this? Are RBS just clearing the decks?
Should I accept?

Hi there
Well done!
To have some reassurance on this maybe you could contact them and ask them first, tell them you received an offer without forwarded such complaint as yet.
However, banks/business's are aware they are to look into customer accounts and investigate automatically to see if they may have mis sold, where letters have been sent out.
In your case because you requested for the paperwork (SAR), they obviously assumed you were going to make a reclaim anyway perhaps.
No harm in getting this clarified by contacting them.
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

With small value complaints, many firms are auto paying out as it is cheaper to.
Did something in your request make any reference to PPI? If so, probably prompted them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
