Legal Cover on car insurance?

Have posted previously of problems with car service (hopefully all sorted). and company have behaved honourably. Have accepted all costs involved to resolve the situation.
However, during the course of dealing with the 'problem', it was stated by the insurance company that the 'legal cover' paid for as an extra did not encompass a problem of this nature, "Not an accident or breakdown".
Insurance cover is fully comprehensive but again, does not cover this problem. (Not accident or breakdown).
So, hoping that this is a one off situation but realising that Sod's Law is often apparent. What other options are there to cover a car owner in this eventuality where the garage is not as honest and honourable?

Household legal cover often includes cover for disputes with retailers / tradesmen / suppliers, although you'd need to check the exceptions. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

I buy legal expenses cover separately. If you have several vehicles it works out cheaper. The cover isn't just restricted to motoring issues either.

Some would argue that it is not worth bothering with but I had to sue someone after a car accident a few years ago and it saved me a lot of money.
Edit: Re-reading your OP, I'm pretty sure the RAC legal cover would not apply to suing a trader, As has been said, maybe your household policy might cover it.0
