catnip on the scratching post is a really good idea - will definitely give that a go!0 -
You could try a scratching board.
Available in a few shapes and sizes.
Cats used to regularly pull at the carpet but since getting these they've not touch it (the carpet). They even sleep on them sometimes.
They still use a scratching post though, so these complement them rather than replace them.
The shredded cardboard makes a bit of a mess sometimes but I wouldn't be without them now.0
