Can anyone recommend a cheap (but good!) wireless energy display monitor please?
"Buy me, Lady", said the frock, "and I will make you into a BEAUTIFUL & WHOLE & COMPLETE human being".
"Do not be silly", said the Man, "for a frock alone cannot do that".
"True", said the Lady, "I will have the shoes and the bag as well".

I used to have an older version of the Owl, however have now got one from British Gas with their energy smart tariff, see if your supplier has them. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

I was in my local Tesco in Glossop Derbyshire this morning and they had Owl monitors for £19 in the reduced section. There were six on the shelves when I was looking. Don't know if this is nationwide.0

They were £9.50 in my tesco last week.0

I put a 'wanted' on Freegle and I was lucky enough to get one.0

Does anyone do a decent RECORDING Electricity Monitor?
All it needs to do is record date, time (including GMT/BST) & consumption and be downloadable to a computer by any means. It doesn't have to be able to do 25 tariffs or anything else remotely fancy as that can all be done on the computer. Preferably it should download as a csv file so it can be picked up by Excel or Openoffice.
I know Owl do one but thit needs it's own software which anyhow appears to be a bit flaky and O/S dependent. I don't need a wireless meter as I get sick of having to set up everything again when the batteries go flat.0 -
apart from the most accurate monitor, your gas and electric meters, all these crap monitors are not much good really, I would nt waste your money on them. They are good for showing trends in your consuption. wait till you get a proper smart meter installed which is spot on,showing actual hard cash spent as well as exact kwhs for the week/ month. Could be worth ringing your supplier if they are fitting them to see if you can volunteer for one. My mate did and he got one ( British Gas)0

They aren't even good for that unless you intend watching them every minute of every day and recording the readings. Unless you do that the first you know of consumption trends is when you receive a bill.sacsquacco wrote: »They are good for showing trends in your consuption
Thus the need for a recording monitor. It doesn't have to be 100% accurate but it will show what sort of consumption is occurring when0 -
My British Gas monitor is incredibly inaccurate (around 20% pessimistic), I reckon I have a bit of a reactive load, anywho, it does have a logging function so you can see your daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly consumption, as coat or Kwh.
It also has a Smiley house icon which is green and smiling for average consumption moving to a red frowny face if you are above average for the day.
Would not have bought one but it came with the energysmart tariff.
