Notice of Correction issues

Hello,
I am looking for advice from those in the know so to speak. I will provide some back ground before my main question.
I recently applied for a credit card from natwest, initially the system told me i could be approved for a card with a small limit which is great as my credit report although being fixed over time is not to great.
I do have a CCJ on my record which is in relation to a dispute I had with my local council regarding common repairs to the my flat.
The CCJ was in May 2008 and I cleared the amount in December 2008 which is registered with the registry trust and shown as such on my credit files.
I placed a notice of correction on my Equifax and Experian files (call credit said it was irrelevant so I didnt bother) to explain that the CCJ was not in relation to a credit agreement which I thought was relevant.
Today I phoned natwest and the girl told me that due to there being a notice of correction on my file I would be declined straight away and that it was RBS policy to decline if notice of corrections were visible. She also told me that RBS group dont take into account CCjs that have been satisfied for more than 3 years.
So the question is do I leave the notice of correction on my files or remove them?
any insight would be helpful.
CCJ will be removed from my file in May 2014.
Thanks

most credit checks are done by computer
obviously a computer can't read and evaluate a notice of correction and so often credit applications will simply fail at the first hurdle0 -
AS they are done by computer, I was under the impression that the lender would then have to review the notice before making a decision, becoming difficult to make a decision on this
do the notices help or not hmmmm.....Its always darkest before the dawn, this experience will make me stronger and smarter.

Simple anser is it depends on the lender.
Clearly in the RBS case, they have told you (something they try to keep confidential by the way) that once the computer sees a NoC it declines. Some lenders policy may be to give a 5h1t and actually read the NoC, and others not.
Note that like RBS, many lenders do this - it's just easier. Imagine having to have a human read every flimsy excuse people have put in for defaulting. It defeats the purpose of automated credit checks.
Try a less popular lender who is less likely to have this process automated.0 -
Pretty much agree with all those above. In my underwriting days (which were a very, very long time ago !) any NoC would have been a straight decline for me too. Simply not interested in any excuse etc as there is always an opportunity to pay before the ccj becomes registered assuming you lose in court.0
