Help needed !! With shares

Hi everyone
13years ago i worked for gap they gave shares to the staff who worked there .. i recived a few in the 4 years i was there i simpley for got about them . my friend has just sold her shares ( she worked there alot longer than me and more hours !) and she has 3000 for them !! i cannot find my documents does anyone know how i go about tracing my shares ??
